Groundbreaking Wednesday for downtown office building | Business
The City of Owensboro, Daviess County Fiscal Court, the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation, and Boardwalk Pipeline Partners will host a ceremonial groundbreaking of a new 60,000 square foot office building, which will house all of Boardwalk Pipeline Partners’ 200 local employees and operations.
The groundbreaking will take place Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., at the construction site (600 West Second Street—the site of the former Don Moore Showroom).
The event marks the initiation of a $44 million private investment project, which will include a downtown Holiday Inn adjacent to the Owensboro Convention Center, as well as residential development along the Ohio River.
Over $89 million in private investment has been announced as a result of the market‐based downtown plan, approved by Owensboro‐Daviess County governments in 2009 resulting in $120 million in publicly funded infrastructure and amenities to reinvent downtown Owensboro as a walkable, mixed use urban center. A $20 million Hampton Inn and Suites will broke ground on March 13.
