Seven Hills hosting annual yard sale

The Seven Hills Neighborhood Alliance will host its fifth annual Yard Sale Fiesta on June 8 and June 9.

Neighbors are invited to host yard sales and encouraged to consider donating $5.00 to $10.00 of their proceeds to the Seven Hills Neighborhood Alliance to help support various community improvement projects.

27th annual Police Memorial Service

27th annual Police Memorial Service

FOP 16 will be paying respects to fallen law enforcement officers with their 27th Annual Police Memorial Service at the Lewis Lane Baptist Church in Owensboro. Everyone is invited to attend.

This service is put on by the FOP and is a muti-agency effort. The service includes songs,bagpipers, a 21 gun salute, cruiser light show, Taps, "Final Call". The guest speaker will be Stephen Watkins, Assistant Chief of Police at DC Protective Services Police Department in Washington D.C.

Neighborhood picnics planned in Seven Hills, Midtown East

The Midtown East and Seven Hills Neighborhood Alliances will host a neighborhood picnic Saturday, May 26 at Legion Park.  The picnic will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  All citizens are invited.  There will be free food (cooking provided by Atmos Energy), Owensboro Police and Fire Department vehicles, an inflatable, giveaways, and music.   Come and enjoy family fun and learn more about what the neighborhood alliances do.

Dry weather for DCHS Lady Panthers Softball Tourney

Apollo, Hancock County, and Heritage Hills are just some of the teams competing in the Daviess County Lady Panthers 'Team Lauren' Softball Tournament. The tournament is being played to raise cancer awareness and celebrate the life of Lauren June Girth, a DCHS softball player, who lost her battle with cancer in March, 2010.

Temperatures will be in the 70s this evening for the Hancock County/Heritage Hills game.

Green River Senior Games now 'Masters Challenge'; events start this month

The 2012 Masters Athletic Challenge will be held May 17 - June 9, and will feature bowling, cycling, golf, swimming, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

Formerly known as the Green River Regional Senior Games, this annual event promotes physical fitness and healthy competition among area residents age 50+.

The games kick off Thursday, May 17, with bowling at Owensboro’s Diamond Lanes South. Swimming at OMHS Health Park in Owensboro (Tuesday, May 22nd) and tennis at Moreland Park in Owensboro (Wednesday, May 23rd) will take place the following week.

There's an event tonight to raise money for cancer treatment. 

Sandy Ball is throwing a Zombie Prom to raise money for her sister Lorann Jones.  Jones is battling a cancer that attacks your kidneys and needs help with medical bills. 

People come to the dance party dressed as Zombies in prom attire.
