DCPS group holding variety of events at festival | Events
The Board of Directors of the Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools is holding its first-ever DCPS Alumni & Friends Festival on August 24 and 25.
The Festival will begin on Friday with the DCPS Pre-union at Friday After 5; the Foundation will have a table in the RiverPark Center lobby. Foundation representatives will be in attendance at the Daviess County home football game and at the Apollo football game at OHS.
The DCPS Alumni & Friends 3K Run will start at 8:00 a.m. on August 25 on the cross country course at Yellow Creek Park just prior to the DC 6K Relays. All alumni and friends are encouraged to participate for one of three teams: Apollo, Team DC, or Friends of the Foundation.
Top 5 women and top 5 men score for each team. Early check-in at Friday After 5; day of race check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. at YCP. Apollo and Daviess County high schools are planning runner reunions for the weekend at the event.

DCPS Alumni & Friends Tent City Meet & Greet – will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Corporate Center parking lot at the corner of 4th & Frederica. Tent City is being held in conjunction with the opening of the riverfront and the downtown air show. Groups affiliated with DCPS are encouraged to pop up a tent at the Meet & Greet. Tamarack Elementary School will be there celebrating ‘50 Years’ with their time capsule items. AHS Class of ’79 has reserved a spot as well. DCPS Alumni & Friends Extravaganza – Saturday evening will begin with a rousing performance by Sheila Ann Miller’s DC Alumni Choir. A dinner catered by one of Owensboro’s premiere restaurants will be provided and ‘Dancing Through the Decades’ will follow dinner. WBRK ‘Morning Guy’ Chad Benefield (DC ’89) will be Master of Ceremonies. The Extravaganza will feature 15 Special Table Hosts who have agreed to allow us to auction ‘Dinner for 6’ with them. The auction will start on July 23 and end on August 10th at midnight.

Proceeds generated by DCPS Alumni & Friends Festival 2012 will be used to build the Foundation’s endowment which will provide grants to DCPS teachers and administrators to fund innovative and creative educational opportunities for more than 11,000 DCPS children.
