Senior fraud, investment seminar in Owensboro | Events

GRADD is partnering with several state and federal agencies to present a free workshop educating seniors on how to protect themselves from fraud and invest their money wisely.

“Senior Scam Jam” will be held Thursday, October 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 pm. at Owensboro Christian Church (2812 New Hartford Road, Owensboro).

This event will feature presentations on investment fraud and identity theft; workshops on mail fraud, insurance fraud and predatory lending; a complimentary lunch; and door prizes.

Over seven million older Americans—one out of every five citizens over the age of 65—have been victimized by a financial scam according to a survey by the Investor Protection Trust (IPT), a nonprofit consumer education organization who provided the funding for “Senior Scam Jam.”

The event is sponsored locally by the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions, AARP Kentucky, the Better Business Bureau, the Kentucky Department of Insurance, the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and GRADD.
