Sea Service on Ohio River will honor veterans | Events

On Monday, 31 May 11, VFW Post 696, 311 W. Veteran's Blvd, will conduct its annual Sea Service to memorialize veterans who gave their lives in service to their country on water by placing a wreath on the Ohio River, along with a 21-gun salute and taps.

This year, with the cooperation of the Owensboro Fire Department, the wreath laying will be facilitated using the new Owensboro Fire Department Fire/Rescue boat.

The wreath will be deployed by Charles Vanover, LCDR, USN (rtd), a member of the VFW Post 696 Honor/Color Guard.

Time will be approximately 12:45 p.m.
