DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE)- Some Daviess County Kenergy customers are without power and what caused the outage can be accurately described as a moving experience.
"It's an old home. It's got all the cool characteristics of a farm house: windows and tall base boards. It's something that you can't just recreate," Wes Carter said.
Wes and Sara Carter love their home. So much that they decided to move it across the county.
The Carters recently bought a home near where Wes use to pick strawberries as a kid, but the location wasn't right. So the couple packed their bags, and house, and took off.
"Sara's always liked old homes, but I didn't want to be in town where all the older homes are. She didn't want to build a new house, so it was just a good opportunity for us," Wes said.
The house is moving at a crawl and will arrive at Sara's family farm Thursday morning. Kenergy says they notified a thousand customers who live along the ten mile route that they might lose power as crews disconnect power cables to make room for the home.
"I am going to be driving one of the trucks with the light following it with the flashing lights. They recruited me and I was going to be there for it anyways so I'm looking forward to it," Wes said.
You might be wondering how much it costs? Carter wouldn't say he only smiled.
