Popular convention headed to Owensboro in 2014/15 | News
OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE)- Global Spectrum, management team of the Owensboro Convention Center, announced Saturday morning that OMGcon is coming to Owensboro in 2014 and 2015.
OMGcon is one of the regions largest anime and video game conventions and continues to grow in popularity. It will be held in Owensboro's new Convention Center on June 13-15, 2014 and June 12-14, 2015.
The convention is organized and promoted by TAPS, Tri-State Anime Promotional Society. The annual event brings together anime and video games for a weekend of fun and excitement. There are special guests such as voice actors and artists; dealers, for getting those hard-to-get merchandise; and events like cosplay and video game tournaments.
The convention began in Paducah, Kentucky, in 2006 and has seen an increase in attendance every year.
"Our event continues to grow every year and we are excited to move it to the new Owensboro Convention Center. We feel this is a positive move that will not only help grow the event, but help offer this unique experience to more anime and gaming enthusiasts from around the region," TAPS and OMGcon co-found, Daniel Dodd said.
"We are so proud to be having such a unique event in our facility and look forward to doing everything we can to help ensure they return each and every year," said Global Spectrum's Director of Sales and Marketing for the Owensboro Convention Center, Laura Alexander.
