Kentucky Senator visits downtown hotel | News
Kentucky Senator Bowen was able to see the progress that has been made on the new riverfront hotel in downtown Owensboro.
The Senator was joined by local officials and hotel management of the Hampton Inn & Suites.
They say the project has been made possible with only local dollars. That means the city has not accepted any funding from the state.
The Senator says the new hotel will add to the local enhancements the City of Owensboro has already made. It will also bring jobs to the community by employing around 100 people.
"I continually am taking back on what is happening in downtown Owensboro," Bowen said. "I think it is fair to say that that everybody in the community is just really excited. This is going to be just another part of a really vibrant downtown."
The owner of the hotel said construction is about 60% complete.
The new hotel is scheduled to open December 2013.
