Pearl Harbor remembrance service scheduled in O'boro | News

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE)- A special service will take place in Owensboro to honor those who were present during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The service will take place at the VFW post on Veterans Boulevard at 5 p.m.
It will be hosted by the Owensboro Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 696 and Tri-State Branch 105 of the Fleet Reserve Association.
Tonight's remembrance service honors the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen who were at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941 when they were attacked by the Japanese.
If you're not too familiar with the two groups hosting the event, here's some information.
The VFW was established to encourage friendships among veterans of foreign wars and to advocate on behalf of all veterans.
The Fleet Reserve Association represents enlisted members of the U.S.. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
Just a few blocks east down Veterans Boulevard, you can also visit the Shelton Memorial today.
That services as a tribute to all veterans in our community.
The service tonight is scheduled to last for about an hour and is open to the public if you'd like to honor those who were at Pearl Harbor.
