Owensboro is getting some big attention.
'Convention South' magazine has named the riverfront town a 'city to watch.'
This comes after a year of thriving downtown development, including the reopening of Smothers Park.
The hotel and Convention Center continue to take shape and are scheduled to open within the year.
Businesses that have put down roots in Owensboro are excited for the future and what's to come after this recognition.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how urban living comes into play, especially downtown," said Nick Knapp with VE Creative. "I know there's some condos that are in the process of being built. I'm just curious to see how that, what that pushes in this downtown economy."
Some of those condos will be located in the Bates Building and another that's being built called Court Place. Both of them are located on Second Street downtown.
