O'boro Convention Center starts topping out ceremony | News
OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE)- A two-day ceremony gets underway today in Owensboro as the city marks an important date for the Convention Center.
Everything kicks off at 8:30 Thursday morning at the construction site.
From that time until 3:30 Thursday afternoon, the public is invited to come down to the site and participate in the first day of the topping out ceremony.
The final steel beam will be on display just off of Walnut and Second Streets.
For a small donation to the United Way of the Ohio Valley, you can sign that beam and be a part of Owensboro history.
Friday morning at 11:45, the beam will be lifted into place.
Before that, some elected officials will speak and get their chance to sign the beam.
A special viewing area for the public will be set up in the location where today's signing is taking place.
Because the Convention Center is such a big part of the community, officials wanted the topping out ceremony to include as much public participation as possible.
