Free career testing available from some KY residents | News
KENTUCKY (WFIE)- If you're looking for a job in Kentucky, free career testing is now available for certain people who qualify.
It's all thanks to money from the state that was given to employment centers.
The test is being offered at the Owensboro Career Center, as well as the Henderson Career Center.
It's for people who are looking to earn a national career readiness certification.
Veterans, people with disabilities, and anyone who's been unemployed for more than 26 weeks qualifies for the free testing, which runs until June 15th.
It looks at certain skills that are needed in many jobs in several different fields.
According to the Career Center, lots of employers in western Kentucky actually require this test now before they'll schedule an interview.
Karen Dueker with the Office of Employment and Training in Owensboro explains how you can benefit from this certification.
"For many others, it's just a leg up basically when you're going to look for a job to say 'I scored a 5 on the National Career Readiness Certificate, and it gives you a certificate, which is portable anywhere in the United States," said Dueker.
Unless the money for the free testing runs out, the last day to schedule an appointment to take the test is May 31st.
