HENDERSON, KY (WFIE)- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have trucks out working in 3 of
their District 2 counties Thursday evening.
Crews in Union, Henderson, and Daviess Counties are reporting
sleet that is creating scattered slick spots on area highways.
Henderson County has 10 trucks salting the roads, but motorists should still use caution.
Temperatures have been dropping over the last couple of hours on the pavement and are hovering above the freezing mark.
The ambient air temperature is holding at 31 degrees in
Union County and Henderson County.
Motorists should be especially cautious around bridges and
overpasses which cool down quicker than regular pavement and should be alert for trucks spreading salt at various locations through the evening.
Most of the reported sleet has been along the Ohio
River border counties, but cold air could press on into other counties over the
next couple of hours.
Caution is required.
