Lane closure starts today in Owensboro | News

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE)- A new closure starts today on Southtown Boulevard in Owensboro.

Beginning this morning, a small section of the westbound lane will be closed.

This latest closure starts at Frederica Street and goes to the Gulf Gas Station, next to the Towne Square North Shopping Center.

Since there are several ways to get around the closure and reach Southtown, including the shopping center entrance, there will be no marked detour.

The lane closure is in place due to an excavation along the road that creates a safety issue for workers and drivers.

Eastbound traffic won't be affected.

As of right now, crews estimate that the closure will last until about April 15th, weather permitting.

The entire Southtown project should be done by October 16th, but there's a chance it could be finished by mid-summer.
