OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE)- The search for a new superintendent to lead Owensboro Public Schools will move into a new phase after today's application deadline.
Since Thursday marks a major milestone in the search to replace Dr. Larry Vick, here are some details about the rest of the process.
After today's application deadline, the screening committee will begin its work.
On April 11th, the group is scheduled to recommend several candidates to the Board of Education.
A little over two weeks after that, the Board will start the interview process.
According to the current schedule, a new superintendent will be chosen on May 7th.
Once the screening committee makes its recommendations to the Board, the group will consider those candidates.
However, the ultimate authority to appoint the superintendent lies with the Board of Education.
It isn't required to choose a candidate from the screening committee's recommended candidates.
Dr. Vick's replacement is scheduled to take over on July 1st.
We'll continue to keep you posted as the district moves into the final stages of the process.
