Woman facing child porn charges released from jail

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE)- A Daviess County woman originally facing over 1000 counts of child porn is out of jail.

According to the Daviess County Circuit Clerk's office, Sarah Cox Was released on unsecured bond on Tuesday.

Officials say the judge in the case granted a motion by Cox's attorney to have her released. 

Cox is currently scheduled for her jury trial to begin September 16 at the Daviess County Circuit Court.

Volunteers finishing up renovations at new women's homeless shelter

Volunteers in Daviess County are finishing up renovations at an emergency homeless shelter for women and children.

Simple path, Crossroads, and new Life Church are opening Adrienne's House by the end of the month after renovations started more than a year ago.

The shelter will serve as an emergency walk-in homeless shelter for women and children at night. During the day, the building will be used as a resource center for women. 

Crews prepping for this weekend's International BBQ Fest

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE)- It's just two days from the start of the International Bar-B-Q Festival in Owensboro, and a big part of the preparation is making sure everyone stays safe while having a good time.

When it comes to a special event like the International Bar-B-Q Festival, the Owensboro Fire Department says that means it has to take some special safety precautions.

"We're just trying to keep the fun and festival," says Joseph Taylor with the department.

When it comes to a special event like the International Bar-B-Q Festival, the Owensboro Fire Department says that means it has to take some special safety precautions.

To make sure that happens, fire crews are planning ahead in the hopes of avoiding a potential emergency

Owensboro Community and Technical College will award nearly 1,000 credentials during its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. May 15 at RiverPark Center.

Dave Adkisson, president & CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, will be the speaker. An Owensboro native, Adkisson served two-terms as the mayor of Owensboro and served in several key posts with the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corp. during his career. He is a graduate of Georgetown College and Harvard University.

Students invited to participate in this summer's Career Craze

Owensboro Community and Technical College's Workforce Solutions Department is offering two Career Craze youth camps this summer.

They're for middle school and high school students.

Middle school students ages 12 and older attend Career Craze from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on May 29th and 30th and from 8 a.m.-noon on May 31st. 

It focuses on energy.
