“Home for Hope” in Owensboro

Jagoe Homes will soon break ground for construction of a “Home for Hope” that will benefit Owensboro-based Aid the Homeless and HOPE International, an agency that fights poverty in developing countries.

The home will be built in the Creekside at Deer Valley community near Owensboro, located two minutes south of Daviess County High School. Groundbreaking will take place November 9 at 11:30 a.m. in Deer Valley at 2210 Meadow Hill Lane, Utica, Kentucky. See the Jagoe Homes website for directions.

Homes for Hope is a national organization that unites home builders and their industry partners in constructing “benefit” homes ~ at little or no charge ~ which are sold to generate proceeds that help small businesses in poor countries around the world.

Homestead exemptions available for Kentucky seniors, disabled

As a result of an amendment to the Kentucky Constitution, residential property owners who are 65 years or older are eligible for an exemption. Some can save thousands of dollars by filing before the end of the year.

When it started sometime in the 1960's the amount of the exemption was only $6500.  Now it is $34,000.  Mobile homes also qualify for the exemption.
