Photo Gallery | Audubon students honor long-time custodian

Monday was "Bertie Ford Day" at Audubon Elementary School.  Students, teachers and staff honored their long-time custodian on his 75th birthday with a party during their morning assembly.

Mr. Ford has been at Audubon since it opened in 1992.  His infectious personality keeps students and staff smiling each day.  Over the years, he has mentored several students and been a father/grandfather figure to them.

He's a big UK fan so for “Bertie Ford Day,” all of the staff wore UK blue (even the UL fans).  They  started the morning out by having him drive his light changing cart in the gym.  He was perched atop it as everyone sang Happy Birthday to him.  Then the staff members presented him 75 one dollar bills as students counted to 75.

As part of his birthday celebration Mr. York and Mr. Jones took care of all of the cafeteria trash as Mr. Ford enjoyed lunch from the Big Dipper.  It was a very eventful day!
